Dan Pettit | Team Owner

RuSPORT team owner Dan Pettit is as impressive on the track as he is in the board room. In 2003, Dan partnered with Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser to develop Indianapolis-based PKV Racing fielding a two car effort in the Champ Car World Series.

Prior to his foray into auto racing, Pettit joined Uniphase Corporation in 1985 (later to become JDS Uniphase) and served as its Chief Financial Officer until 1998, and later as President of European Operations until his retirement in August of 2000. He assisted JDS Uniphase in transitioning from a small privately-held company to a publicly-held corporation as a member of the NASDAQ 100. During Pettit's tenure, the market cap of the company grew from $35 million to $100 billion. As CFO, Pettit assisted in taking the company through its initial public offering and several subsequent offerings. He also negotiated key acquisitions of business units from companies such as United Technologies, IBM and Phillips.

Pettit retired from JDS Uniphase in August 2000 and co-founded KPLJ Ventures, a venture capital firm, with Champ Car Series Principal, Kevin Kalkhoven. KPLJ invests in early stage companies developing key technologies for the communications infrastructure, focusing primarily on wireless devices and networks utilizing these devices. Pettit also currently serves on the Board of Directors of Vista Networks.

He holds an MBA from Pepperdine University in California and a BA in Business from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. Dan resides in Northern California with his wife Kelly and family.
